Carole Manship has always been a reader and a wannabe writer. Growing up in New York, she studied at the City College of New York where she received a degree in English Literature and followed that up with two years of teaching English in the Bronx.
Now retired, she looks back at the many paths her career has taken including office work for the Quakers in London, textbook editor at Houghton Mifflin in Boston; training administrator at Price Waterhouse in Birmingham, 6 years at Aston University, firstly helping students getting good work experience in their sandwich year and then taking up the post of Associate Director of the Management Development Programme, the commercial arm of the business school.
While at Aston she gained an MBA and on leaving Aston set up her own business consultancy specialising in the people side of business. For 9 years she chaired The Producers’ Forum, supporting filmmakers in the Midlands and also spent several years editing GEM magazine, which was all about being positive about Birmingham.
She is delighted to have found her way to HHT which seems to bring together all these strands and brings her back to the world of literature.
Carole joined as Acting Chair in May 2022 and was confirmed as Chair in April 2023.
