Elizabeth Barrett Browning
‘The Musical Instrument’ is a late poem by Elizabeth Barrett Browning which evokes her life-long love of classical legend and myth, conjuring up Pan as he might be found in any bucolic waterway anywhere, anytime. We have chosen to include it here, with the sound of our river which is riotous with reeds, water lilies and dragonflies, as it flows near our properties and is enjoyed by many of our writers. It is read by Sarah Hosking in 2017.
